How I Work
I take an integral and process-oriented approach to therapeutic work, meaning that I draw on a combination of different theoretical perspectives, modalities, and interventions. How this looks depends on each of my individual client relationships, as well as what is specifically alive in them from moment to moment. As a therapist, I come in with the varied tools of my learning and training, but the therapeutic process that I share with each client is creative, collaborative, evolving, and unique. As Carl Jung acknowledged, ‘In dealing with individuals, only individual understanding will do. We need a different language for every patient.’

That said, my therapeutic values and presence are especially informed by the following orientations.

Humanistic & Existential

My approach is person-centered, and honors subjectivity. I am less interested in reaching for an ideal version of you, and instead hope to aid you in deepening your knowledge of who you already are. As you come to accept yourself and your experiences more fully, an authenticity will emerge that brings greater capacities for self-responsibility and choicefulness. I trust that necessary changes will occur naturally in your life overall as a result of this growth.

Relational
Sometimes humans get hurt in relationships. So too, in relationships they often heal. I invite us both to show up in our fullness, as the attachment that we build during sessions is actually a central part of the therapeutic process itself. In our work together, we might notice our dynamic, talk about it, and experiment with it. Safely attempting honesty, openness, and vulnerability with each other is great practice for personal relationships outside of the therapy space.

Awareness-based

A piece of gestalt wisdom states that ‘awareness increases choice’. In other words, the more information we have about what’s going on here & now, the more options we have for trying something different. Awareness practice helps us to recognize that things are always shifting and unfolding. The more we notice this reality as it is, the more we are able to trust the process without forcing it. Connecting to the body is one practical, straightforward way to do this.

Systems-based

Each one of us encompasses a unique intersection of identities, some chosen and others not. These multi-faceted identities are more or less privileged based on the social, cultural, and political contexts within which we live. It is useful, and even necessary, to consider how issues explored in therapy are also relative to the larger systems of which we are all a part.

Transpersonal

I acknowledge and make space for extraordinary experiences that transcend everyday, consensus reality. These might be spiritual or psychedelic in nature, or even occur during moments of crisis or risk. Sometimes they are difficult to understand or categorize, and may seem ineffable. With the right attention, we can integrate the insight and meaning these experiences frequently have to offer.

Experience & Specialties
Over the course of the last five years, I have practiced in community, nonprofit, and private settings. I appreciate and welcome a diverse range of identities and lifestyles in my caseload, in part because it simply interests me to make contact with people from so many different walks of life. I have experience supporting many issues that are common to all, including depression & anxiety, relationship struggles, childhood wounding and complex trauma, grief and loss, gender and sexuality, school and work related stress, and major life transitions.

It is particularly fulfilling for me to work with anyone that is exploring matters of identity, connection to purpose and meaning, or fuller immersion into their creativity or spiritual practice. My education and previous coaching background equip me to effectively support clients that may be navigating some or all of these areas in conjunction with psychedelic experiences.

As I continue to grow my practice, I notice that certain populations tend to resonate with my style more frequently. My caseload consistently supports a high percentage of LA-area artists and performers, members of the wider LGBTQ+ community, and young people developing into their adult lives.
